The best cannabis trade shows of 2023
At ROOR Papers we can’t get enough of cannabis trade shows. They are great places to get inspired and widen our network of friends in the cannabis community. In 2022 we took part in cannabis trade shows all over Europe, from the UK to Poland. 2023 looks even more exciting.
Let’s look back at some of the best cannabis trade shows on our magical mystery tour across Europe in 2022. We’re going to stop off at some of the continent’s choicest destinations. So buckle up, and enjoy the ride.
Where were we in 2022?
Last year we took part in some of the coolest European cannabis trade shows. Here are some of the highlights of the ROOR Experience the Highest Tour.
CBD Show
In April 2022 we jetted off to the UK for the CBD Show [1], a truly international CBD event.
The gathering is a hotbed of innovative ideas, products, and services—drawing together 100 suppliers and 50 high-profile speakers from all over the world. At the ROOR booth we had a steady footfall thanks to our prominent location, NEON coloured display counter, and wheel of fortune game that drew the attention of attendees.
The gathering was a great place to get up to date with the latest cannabis industry news. We could answer questions like: Which products are hot? And which are not? And what legislative changes can we expect in the year ahead?
Cannatrade
With the arrival of the warmer weather in May we went to Bern and the CannaTrade [2] event.
The international hemp fair has 250 exhibitors and many more attendees. The atmosphere is friendly and open minded. We really appreciated the chill out area where we could kick back, relax, and share stories about cannabis fun.
Weedfest
Also in May, we attended WeedFest [3], the gathering that’s all about the hemp industry.
The event is held in Warsaw, and there are many attractions for visitors including The Hemp Cup. This is an award given to the organization with the “best dried hemp in Poland”. There’s an audience category and a main category to get excited about.
On top of this, there’s a great educational offering with plenty of expert speakers in attendance.
The next WeedFest (the third edition overall) runs from 27/5/23 – 28/5/23. We’ll be there again. So, come join us.
Product Earth
At the height of summer in August we want to Product Earth [4] for the second year running. (We’re due to attend in August 2023 for a third time.)
The gathering has a homely message about celebrating the cannabis plant and always draws a really free-loving crowd. We attended the event as a diamond sponsor which was an honour for us because the gathering is such an important moment in the cannabis trade show calendar.
Cultiva Hanfexpo
By the time the autumn hit in October we headed out to Austria for the Cultiva Hanfexpo [5] which is one of the largest cannabis exhibitions in Europe with over 180 exhibitors and more than 8,000 attendees.
The trip to Austria was a chance to celebrate the fact that ROOR Papers had been recently launched in the location, making it half a dozen countries where our world-first CBD-infused papers had become available.
At the gathering, we had some really lovely feedback about the colourful packaging of our ROOR rolling paper booklets.
Our stand out moment in Austria was the great after-show party where we networked to the beat of great music and enjoyed some tasty drinks. The social was the time for big ideas. We chatted about what CBD and terpene products will be invented in five or ten years time. Great fun.

Were will we be in 2023?
2022 was a blast. We’re certain 2023 will be even better. So, what’s on the horizon? Here is a quick run through of some of the best cannabis trade shows we’re excited about in 2023.
1. Spannabis
Spannabis [6] has been held in Barcelona since 2002. It holds the crown as the biggest cannabis event in Europe.
The three-day gathering lets the public engage with the cannabis product community. In addition, the event has an enviable roster of speakers from the scientific, medical, and political sectors—spreading the latest knowledge and learning.
At Spannabis 2023 the ROOR team set up camp at booth 269.
It was a great spot. Our big LED screen could send flashing neon colors through the whole conference hall.
We turned on loads of people to our eye-catching and super sustainable products. How? We had a free prize draw called ‘ROOR the dice’. This game used three dice. Get the right combo and you won prizes and picked up free entry to ‘Bong O’Clock’—a super fun raffle.
From Friday morning to Sunday afternoon, our team at Spannabis chatted with attendees and filled them in on our award-winning, world-first rolling papers with CBD-infused gum. It was great.
2. Hemps Fair
In April 2023 we’re going to the Hemps Fair [7] in Frankfurt.
The event is massive, covering 7,500 square metres of real estate. At ROOR we’re really looking forward to this one. We’ve heard that there are lots of stall giveaways, so we’ll be sure to leave some space in our suitcases for the freebies.
3. Mary Jane
In the summer of 2023 we’re dropping in at the Mary Jane [8] trade fair in Berlin.
Since it started in 2016, 10,000 visitors and 120 international exhibitors have got involved, making it one of the two largest cannabis trade fairs in Europe. We’re eagerly anticipating the blockbuster event that’s famous for having a really wide range of products on offer.
4. Cannafair
In August 2023, we’re switching our attention to Dusseldorf, Germany. [9]
The 2023 event looks set to be the best iteration yet. Dusseldorf is a great location. It’s close to the border, so it not only draws in the German crowds and companies but also attracts firms and attendees from the Netherlands—which doesn’t have a high-profile cannabis gathering of its own.
The venue, the Mitsubishi Electric Halle is right in the middle of the city, just five minutes from the main train station and 20 minutes from the airport. How convenient!
5. Cannafest
We’ve heard that the atmosphere at this event is always buzzing.
After a downturn during COVID-19, the word on the street is that the 2023 Cannafest [10] gathering is going to break attendance records. So, we couldn’t miss it.
In November 2023 team ROOR will hit Prague, Czech Republic. After checking into our hotel, we’ll put on our coats and boots and wander over to the PVA Expo Prague Letňany, an enormous venue with plenty of space to explore.
